Managing Your Expectations

Our upbringing and experiences through life tend to make us develop certain perspectives of things. Based on these perspectives, we sometimes, develop extraordinarily high expectations of things and people. These expectations live in both our conscious and subconscious minds, and we may not even know they are there until they are either met or disappointed.

We expect people to live up to certain standards and when they fail to do so,we feel disappointed, which sets the ball rolling for negative emotions such as anger, irritation, bitterness, confusion frustration , depression, etc to takeover our being .
These emotions drain the body of vitality and do you no good,

STARTING WITH NOTHING

‘’Nothing, Everything, Anything, Something. If you have nothing, you have everything because you have the freedom to do anything without the fear of losing something.’’- Jarod Kintz
You will observe that Jarod Kintz quote started with ‘nothing’ and ended with ‘something’.
The reason many people may continue to remain under-achievers will not be because of being born without a silver spoon or a lack of opportunities but because they do not believe in themselves that they can do something.
The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, yet God’s creative power brought something out of nothing. You and I were created with God’s potential for success. The ‘’little’’ knowledge or capability you have

Please, Let ''Oga @ the Top'' Be.

Now this is not in anyway to justify or excuse the NSCDC commandant for his infamous interview with Channels TV, but I think social media users went too far with that phrase, 'My oga at the top', which has eventually led to his suspension from work.

The truth is, Mr. Obafaiye Shem, was just an unfortunate scape-goat of a system that neglects the capacity building of its work-force , the Nigeria Civil service as a whole, needs to train and re-train its staff on the use of ICT. A good number of them are not in touch with modern ICT skills especially, those within or above Mr Obafaiye's age.

The whole thing was shocking and amusing and you may wonder if our public officials are ever interviewed before assuming such offices or if this was just a back- firing of man-know-man recruitment, but it is good to do things with moderation, too much of everything is bad. Before you post another "Oga at the top'' joke, just imagine for a second, the psychological trauma the man and his wife and children are facing now. I'm sure the man has been having sleepless nights or bad dreams. Tamper justice with mercy. Don't extend the embarrassment and heartache of this fellow, as we are all ignorant of something, no body knows it all, it could be your turn tomorrow.

However, this highlights the potency of the media and the social media as instruments of change- let us rather use these same methods and energies for more important things like driving home our demands for better leadership and making the seats uncomfortable for corrupt people in power

15 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy

By -by Dana Saviuc,

Here is a list of 15 things which, if you give up on them, will make your life a
lot easier and much, much happier. We hold on to so many things that cause us a great deal of pain, stress and suffering – and instead of letting them all go, instead of allowing ourselves to be stress free and happy – we cling on to them. Not anymore. Starting today we will give up on all those things that no longer serve us, and we will embrace change. Ready? Here we go:

1. Give up your need to always be right. There are so many of us who can’t stand the idea of being wrong – wanting to always be right – even at the risk of ending great relationships or causing a great deal of stress and pain, for us and for others. It’s just not worth it. Whenever you feel the ‘urgent’ need to jump into a fight over who is right and who is wrong, ask yourself this question: “Would I rather be right, or would I rather be kind?” Wayne Dyer. What difference will that make? Is your ego really that big?

2. Give up your need for control. Be willing to give up your need to always control everything that happens to you and around you – situations, events, people, etc. Whether they are loved ones,

What to Do When You’re Waiting on God

by Joyce Meyer

Have you been praying about a situation in your life and found yourself waiting for a breakthrough? Are you wondering why the answer hasn't come yet? Do you feel as though victory is passing you by?
Sometimes when we pray long and hard about a situation in our life without receiving any answers, we just learn to live with it. We go on about our business, wondering if or when God will send the answer. But God does hear those prayers, and He’s working out the answers even though we may not know all the details. Our situation can change suddenly—quickly without warning!
But one thing is certain: Before God moves suddenly, we will wait. Waiting for answers is a fact of life—nobody gets out of it. So the question is not if we'll wait, but rather how we’ll wait. And I believe how will determine how long.

Two Ways to Wait

All of us will wait passively, or we'll wait expectantly. A passive

7 Common Procrastination Excuses

7 Common Procrastination Excuses

Sleeping Nap Grass Lazy

Let’s dive right into some of the most common procrastinati0n excuses I hear – and well, also excuses that I make!

“I Don’t Really Need To Do It Right Now …

The grand daddy of all procrastination excuses.  So seductive, because there is a little truth to it.  We don’t have to do it, although we may suffer a bit down the road.   That’s just a risk we take…right?
When we make this excuse, what we’re really saying is - “I don’t want to do this, and I’m secretly hoping that it’ll either go away, or I’ll eventually feel motivated to actually do it.” Many of us use this excuse knowing full well we’re procrastinating – waiting for that excitement and adrenaline rush that’ll push us through that all-nighter, and “successfully” finish on time.  Other common phrasings include “There’s plenty of time” and “I can always do it tomorrow.”

“I’ll Start After …”

Sound familiar? I know I’ve been there. Some of my favorite examples of this excuse include “I’ll start…” -
  • … right after I do the dishes
  • … right after I clean my desk
  • … right after I make one last phone call
This is procrastination, plain and simple – we don’t want to do the difficult tasks that we really should be doing, and we put things off by making excuses and doing “just on more thing.” Surprise, surprise – for me, that “one more thing”

PROCRASTINATION

The Habit That Guarantees Failure

“Habit is either the best of servants or the worst of masters.”
- Nathaniel Emmons
Anywhere from 80 to 95% of our actions every day are controlled or partially based on our habits.   Are your habits helping you…or hurting you?
You may already know this – you brush your teeth (or don’t!) out of habit, you likely react in similar ways to various situations based on your habits – and according to a cell phone tracking study I read, people consistently even go to the same locations at the same times week after week.
But which habits are helping you, and which are hurting you?
We all have a mixture of positive and negative habits – but there’s one habit that absolutely guarantees you will fail.
It has a 100% failure rate – if you fall victim this habit today, I guarantee you that you will fail today.
If this habit takes root today, then today you will fail to meet your goals, you will fail to make progress, and you will wake up tomorrow with absolutely nothing to show for today.

The Habit That Guarantees Failure

The habit is this:
Telling yourself “I will do it tomorrow.”
Every day you say that, you guarantee

Let Them Go

WHY IS IT THAT WE FIND IT SO HARD TO LET GO OF PEOPLE WHO CAME INTO OUR LIVES AND WALK OUT? And here is something from TD Jakes to Inspire you to let go.

There are people who can walk away from you.
And hear me when I tell you this!
When people can walk away from you: let them walk.
I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you.

I mean hang up the phone. When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.
People leave you because they are not joined to you.
And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay.
LET THEM GO!

And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just

Time is Precious

Most people place a great value on things like jewels or gold and silver but none on ''Time''. It's amazing how people, especially people of this generation, know the price of every thing and the value of nothing, . We sacrifice the ''urgent'' for the'' important''.

Time is also precious, we usually make plans for going places, sleeping, eating or working. We can save up the precious items and store them, but time cannot be put in a safety deposit box. Each minute that passes is lost forever to us. If we use time wisely, we are enriched, if we do not use it, we've lost something valuable. You may delay but time will not and time is so prudent that once you lost it, it can not find it

The three dangerous enemies of your life and time are; Procrastination, Laziness and Lack of knowledge. Abrahan Lincoln once said, '' things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle''

Do what you can when you can and not delay, because you are never sure what will come next. An unknown writer wrote, ''I remember reading somewhere about an organization called Procrastinators Anonymous. I think they had been in existence for some years but had never gotten around to having a meeting''.

A lazy man will never run out of excuses on why he couldn't accomplish a task, and an ignorant man will never make any significant head way, no wonder God lamented, ''my people perish for lack of knowledge''.

There is a time for everything—sleeping, taking one's leisure, working and playing. Knowing that time is precious will help us make the most of the years we have on earth. Some of that time needs to be spent thinking about the time after these years of life—that is time without end.

More Precious Than Diamond...

Here is something on Mohammed Ali that I stumbled upon and thought I should share with you,be you a son of Adam or a Daughter of Eve(Male or Female). He is one of the world's greatest athlete and boxer and apparently, a great dad too.

Muhammad Ali's Advice to his daughters:

An incident transpired when Muhammad Ali’s daughters arrived at his home wearing clothes that were quite revealing.

Here is the story as told by one of his daughters:

“When we finally arrived, the chauffeur escorted my younger sister, Laila, and me up to my father’s suite. As usual, he was hiding behind the door waiting to scare us. We exchanged many hugs and kisses as we could possibly give in one day.

My father took a good look at us. Then he sat me

8 'Yahoo' Boys in Police Net

The EFCC has recovered several exotic cars including a Mercedes Benz SUV, Range Rover Sport and a Toyota Camry in the arrest of 8suspects over internet scam popularly known as 'yahoo yahoo'.

Below is a press statement from the EFCC

One of the undergraduates, Hope Olusegun, a 25 year-old from Okene in Kogi State, and claims to be a student of Computer Science at the Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University, Malaysia. He was arrested by operatives of EFCC over allegations of fraud and internet scam.

'Pastors' or Not 'Pastors'?

According to PM News, two 'pastors', pastor Abrefere and Revd Okpogo, have been jailed in Warri for being part of a micro-finance bank that operated illegally and accepted deposits up to the tune of 1 billion naira.

Mustard Seed Micro Investment Limited was convicted on two counts and fined N2 million on each of the counts. Pastor Abrefera and Reverend Okpogo, both directors of Mustard Seed Micro Investment limited, were also convicted on two counts and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment each.
They were equally fined N2 million on each of the counts.

You won't blame Mahatma Gandhi when he said, ''I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians, your Christians are so unlike your Christ''. These are obviously not 'pastors'.

Before You Sleep With Him,Read This.

An Excerpt From Christian Charter's ''Will He Stick With You After You Get Intimate? Not If You Make These Common Mistakes

Here's something you NEVER EVER want to forget. It's the real truth about how most men think when it comes to sex and dating in casual and UNCOMMITTED relationships...
Ready?
Just because a man has sex with a woman, it doesn't mean that he's spent even a second of his time deciding whether or not he wants to be with her or have a relationship in the future.
In other words... a man's not going to ever "see your worth" just because you've slept with him.
And more to the point, it is NOT the physical attraction a man feels for a woman, and getting close to her physically, that makes a man really "feel it" for you and want more.
Truth: For A Man, Sex Does Not Equal Relationship
You need to think of sex and relationships as two completely different things that have nothing to do with one ano

How Old is your Brain?

Brain fitness experts has assured us that our brains don't grow old from working too hard but from hardly working at all. The ability of our mind to retain or regain flexibility is a matter of exercise. When you don't stretch your mind with thoughtful reading, rational thinking, intelligent analysis & conversation,it loses plasticity and becomes old at whatever age, (the problem isn't how old your brain is but how old your thinking is).
Do you read? Cos everything you need to know, whatever information or knowledge you u seek, has been put down in a book by someone, but, will you find it? Reading is cheap, you must find time to read. Reading is fun,you can read anywhere at anytime. Reading is learning, the more you read more you know. The more you know, the more you still want to know. Reading is good,it opens unlimited doors of opportunities for you to grow and become a well informed person. Read wide,Read well,Read selectively.

Chime, Dead or Alive?

The unexplained absence of Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu state from Office continues to fuel the gossip about his health condition.
Recently, there was a rumor that Chime had died, but this rumor was imediately debunked by the Enugu state government.
Chime has being absent from office for more than 3 months without any official information explaining his absence.
Why do we hoard information concerning public figures or office holders in this part of our world? Recall that of Yar'adua, Abacha, Patience Jonathan?
Nelson Mandela got sick, was admitted and operated upon, and details of his health condition before and after treatment was made public without causing unnecessary rumors.
When information like this are hoarded, the natural consequence will be rumors such as this.

Gov. Sullivan Chime, if you are still alive and well, please make some noise...

Money Mattaz!

Doomsday Rumor Debunked

For those who have been feeling uneasy and having sleepless nights about the world coming to an end on December 21, you can now heave a sigh of relief as that doomsday theory has been debunked by scientists.

People, especially Christians really need to get close to the word of God, the bible, at this end-time so as to decipher for themselves what is true and what is not. This way, they will not be easily swayed  or tossed around by all manner of theories, doctrines and rumors and deceptions.

Bafana Drops in FIFA Ranking

The Bafana Bafana of South Africa has dropped 3 places to 87th position in the latest FIFA ranking.

I usually do not take these FIFA rankings serious but being the host of the AFCON 2013 coming up in January, do you think this will affect their morale?

Show of Shame!

Remember Aminu Sule, the son of the Jigawa state governor arrested at the Aminu Kano airport a forth night ago for money laundering?
Well, according to the EFCC, he has confessed that the 3 billion dollars he was caught with actually belonged to his father, Sule Lamido. Meanwhile, the governor had earlier denied any association with the act.
Reports also have it that Aminu Sule may have laundered up to N30billion for his father since he became governor five years ago.

Now who's the liar?
Lest I forgot, If una no know who get the money, make una bring am to me for safe keeping.
